Bushfire Ready Australia is developing a practical, property-based approach to help people better understand the threats their home and property may face — and the range of actions that may reduce those risks.

Through workshops, demonstrations and practical learning, we explore how property design, vegetation, embers, water, equipment, preparation and personal decisions can work together as part of a bushfire plan.

Every property is different.

A bushfire can threaten a property in many different ways, including ember attack, radiant heat, direct flame, wind, burning debris and spot fires.

The first step is understanding those threats and identifying where a particular property may be vulnerable.

We then explore possible countermeasures — from simple property maintenance and reducing fuel through to building protection, water systems and other preparation measures.

Our approach is not about selling a particular solution. it is about understanding the problem first.
